THE EVIL RABBIT STRIKES AGAIN!

Yulia Pustoshkina aka Evil Rabbit is a local artist originally from Russia who is making a steady impact on the Sydney art scene. Using primarily oils for her painting she has done a wide range of works which are available as originals or prints on canvas. Themes and characters are closely connected to her personal life and often incude the figure of a rabbit placed in various unusual predicaments. Her latest work includes a collection of earrings bearing folkloric influences. They are hand sewn using such materials as rich velvet, brocade, lace, satin, glass beads and crystals. All pieces are mixed, layered and hand embellished to create a unique and lavish decorative (sometimes vintage) look and each pair is a one off and therefore totally unique. Disrupt currently stocks many of her works so come by and see them up close.

STATUS ANXIETY

This Sydney based label has been busying themselves for some time now making some sweet guys and gals wallets, clutches and purses. Call them sticklers for routine, call them unadventurous, but everything you see with the Status Anxiety label on it is constructed of at least 98% leather (the rest is lining and thread) and styled with a little bit of something something.

COURTNEY BRIMS PRINTS

Courtney Brims is a Brisbane-based artist who graduated with a degree in interior design before turning her attention to illustration in 2008. Her drawings are influenced by Victoriana, ghost stories, old photographs, daydreams and nightmares. Working with pencils, Courtney creates dreamy worlds of lost girls and bewildering creatures, focusing on the beauty of nature and its dominance over time.

She had her first solo exhibition at Sydney's Monster Children Gallery in 2008 as winner of the Mooks Artspace competition. Since then she has had solo shows at LA's Black Maria Gallery and most recently at Brisbane's Nine Lives Gallery as well as numerous group shows across Australia.
